Dancer by Steven Cantor at MBCinema

Ukrainian-born dancer Sergei Polunin, famous for his role in David LaChapelle's video for Hozier's "Take Me To Church" – above – originally garnered attention after becoming the Royal Ballet's youngest ever principal dancer at age 19. Two years later - at the height of his career - Poulnin walked away from dance, resolving to give it up completely.

Director Steven Cantor's film Dancer tracks the life of Polunin from the beginning, celebrating both his raw talent and his ambition to move beyond dance - and possibly to Hollywood.  Dancer considers how wealth and success may not be enough when it comes to finding personal and professional identity.

The film plays at the Miami Beach Cinematheque starting Friday, September 30th.
