Five Questions with DJ Le Spam of Spam Allstars

What inspired you for the mixtape and how did you choose the songs?
I have been collecting Miami funk 45s for 20 years. These are some of the toughest.

01 Positive Sounds | I'm Fired Up
02 JP Robinson | Hot Love
03 Johhny K | Bills to Pay
04 Blowflys | Funky in the Hole
05 Clarence Reid - Miss Hot Stuff
06 Raw Soul Express | The Way We Live
07 Latimore | It Ain't Where You Been
08 Mighty Ryeders | Evil Vibrations
09 Funky Nassau | Bahama Soul Stew
10 Jesse Slaughter | I Had A Dream
11 Lee Austin | Put Something on Your Mind

You collect and play a lot of vinyl – do you have a one record that is particularly special?
There are many! One would be the Helene Smith Sings Deep Soul  LP from the Miami soul micro-label Deep City. Willie Clarke, the original producer believes there were only 100 pressed.

If you had to sum up Miami in one word, what would it be?
Miami
