Como Hotels Brings Wellness to the Beach

Set in the Traymore Hotel, designed in 1939 by American architect, Albert Anis, the Metropolitan by Como Hotels is a relaxed art deco scape tucked just off of Collins Avenue. The only outpost of the Como Hotel group on American soil, the small 74-room property has a fresh appeal, reflecting the company’s commitment to whole body wellness and relaxation in a cityscape.
The interiors – designed by Milan based designer Paola Navone – honor the existing art deco aesthetic of the property, keeping original details while adding a wash of pastel Florida tones and a mix of mid-century modern furniture. Unlike some of the hotels Collins Avenue neighborhoods, Metropolitan by Como is a bit more quiet, preferring to be a hidden escape. But that doesn't mean it is short on luxury, the environment is calming and thoughtful and the service is attentive.
Not short on amenities, the hotel has a full spa, pool and renowned restaurant named after the original hotel, plenty to keep any guest from straying too far. For those who want to mix their relaxation with adventure, the hotel offers boat access from its private dock located on the bay across the street. Standard rooms start from $255. It’s worth noting is that in 2014 the hotel was named in Wallpaper magazine’s list of Best Urban Hotels.
