Parlor Miami Pop-Up at Miami Beach Woman's Club

PARLOR Miami hosts a four-day shopping and pampering pop-up bringing together a list of independent and emerging designers and a stylish list of Miami's tastemakers.

Created to celebrate contemporary living by founder Taylor Abess, PARLOR features designers that are from the areas of fashion, accessories, beauty and home. "I tried to bring together a list of established and new brands that will appeal to the cool, sophisticated Miami woman." The list numbers around 30 brands and includes Anndra Need, Lee Savage, Norma Kamali, A Piece Apart, AQ/AQ, Romi Ceramics and Maison Louis Marie.

Having spent years as the owner of Parlor Showroom in New York City, Abess is a fashion veteran with a keen eye for young and emerging designers. When she relocated to Miami last year, she felt there was a void in the Miami retail scene, "I didn't feel like there was a space that was really meant for the well-rounded woman who wants more than just fashion, maybe she's also into beauty or wellness or home."

To fill the void, Abess came up with the concept of the PARLOR Pop-Up, launched last year at the Soho Beach House. It was a success.

This year the pop-up has expanded to the Miami Beach Woman's Club and features events including the GLAMSQUAD Beauty Lounge, Yoga Classes, and Tiqo Happy Hour. The activations are themed, focusing one day of the pop-up on wellness, another on beauty, and include a learning element, so that there is something for everyone.

"The definition of Parlor is a room used for the reception of visitors or welcome someone to your home, so the idea is to create a space where people can feel welcome, whether they want to shop or to hangout."

The pop-up opens Thursday with daily events alongside sounds by DJ YSL, Sasha Lauzon and Coco Hara.

The Loewe Foundation presents the first-ever solo exhibition in Miami of modernist photographer Tina Modotti at the Loewe store in Miami's Design District. Italian-born Modotti learned to take photos from the influential American photographer Edward Weston and travelled to Mexico City with him in 1923. There she developed her own style with images that focused on simple subjects and precise framing that were grounded in everyday life. The exhibit features 50 images that provide an overview of her work and is up until April 16th.
